Coast Artillery Battery: EDoB ID: S0013015
WW2 AA Battery

One of four concrete pads about 30m apart each with a holdfast for an unrotated projectile (UP) Rocket Launcher, for close air defence of the coast battery. This was a short range anti-aircraft rocket developed for the Royal Navy, and used extensively by British ships in the early days of the Second World War. It proved unreliable and ineffective in operation, prompting its withdrawal in 1941.
