WW1 Gun Emplacement (No. 2 Battery)

Further west, and entirely separate from the combined WW1 and WW2 gun battery to the east, are an additional four WW1 gun emplacements for 4 inch QF (Quick Firing) guns. Known as Site No. 2, the battery with their sunken magazines immediately to the north, is situated on cliffs above a series of caves. The position overlooks the narrowest point of the entrance into the Cromarty Firth. The photo shows two emplacements of the No. 2 gun battery with their underground magazine immediately behind.
