Oxford: Carfax Tower
The tower is all that remains of St Martin's church, which was demolished in 1896. It stands at the central crossroads of Oxford, known as Carfax (related to the French word 'carrefour' for crossroads) and provides today's visitor with fine views across the city from its rooftop.
