G7633 : I went by Innisfree

taken 7 years ago, 3 km from Kilmore, Co Leitrim, Ireland

I went by Innisfree
I went by Innisfree
This is the supposed basis of Yeats' "Lake Isle of Innisfree". Unfortunately, due to the increasing censorship of Google, I haven't been able to find out what the proper name of the original island itself is. The name "Innisfree" is an anglicisation of the Gaelic for "heather island", and the "lake" is Lough Gill.

The photograph is taken from the boat "Rose of Innisfree".
