Cottages at Sutton Stop
Cottages at Sutton Stop
This row of cottages, built in chequerboard brickwork, stand adjacent to the Greyhound Inn on Sutton Stop - the name of the road derived from the local name for Hawkesbury Junction on the canal network. The Sutton family were well-known lock keepers in the 19th century. However, it is thought that these cottages were actually associated with the nearby Victoria Colliery rather than the canal.
