SP8699 : The second archway

taken 5 years ago, near to Uppingham, Rutland, England

The second archway
There are two tunnels on the path of Hopes Yard. This is the second, inner one.
Alleyways of Uppingham

Uppingham has a very Medieval feel, with yards and alleyways leading off the main street to hidden properties behind.

Two of them, facing each other across the high street, are Crown Yard and Reeves Yard. On a larger scale map these can be seen to be part of a footpath from Dedgate (and points further south) to Ayston Road in the North of the town.

Several openings are displaying old Rutland County Council "no cycling" signs - though anyone who could cycle through the tiny passageways would be a master of his machine.
