St Martin's church - statue
St Martin's church - statue
A carved stone statue of the church's patron saint, in the most famous story told of him, giving his cloak to a beggar.
Church of St Martin of Tours, Salisbury

This church, now cut off from the city centre by the inner relief road, is one of the oldest in the city, certainly predating the present Cathedral, and built on the site of a Saxon place of worship. The chancel is the oldest part of the present building (13th century), the tower 14th century, nave and aisle 15th century. It was reordered in Victorian fashion c.1850, in Edwardian fashion c.1900-1920 and in neo-Elizabethan fashion in 2006. Listed grade I (list entry 1259041).
