Church of St Bartholomew
Most of what can be seen in this view is a Victorian gothic style church, but in 'The Buildings of England - Northumberland' [Pevsner and others] the rebuilding is regarded as little more than vandalism, as there was once a fine Saxon tower. The vicar at the time of the rebuilding in 1840 is awarded most of the blame.
