NT9710 : On Castle Hill Fort

taken 8 years ago, near to Scrainwood, Northumberland, England

On Castle Hill Fort
On Castle Hill Fort
The summit of Castle Hill has served as a prehistoric hill fort and settlement. This view taken on the west side shows broken stonework around one of the ramparts, and one is inclined to think that this is part of the original defences rather than a broken down wall of later date.
