NU1813 : Canongate pant

taken 6 years ago, near to Alnwick, Northumberland, England

Canongate pant
Canongate pant
'The Buildings of England - Northumberland' by Pevsner and others refers to several 'pants' in Alnwick, but until I found this one, I had no idea what a pant was. This is a water fountain of 1770, one of several scattered around the town and a historic source of drinking water fed via various springs and streams.
