The Reedham Ferry
The Reedham Ferry
Since 1949, the chain ferry > Link at Reedham is owned and operated by the Archer family and in 1949 the ferry was operated by winching it across the river by hand. In 1950 it was fitted with a diesel engine. In 1983, boat builders from Lowestoft were given commissioned to build a new vessel and the new ferry started operating in May 1983. It is the last working chain ferry in the East of England and provides the only river crossing between Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
