Clacton-on-Sea: The Old Lifeboat House
Clacton-on-Sea: The Old Lifeboat House
Well, well, the photographer thought he could recognise a public house when he saw one, but evidently not on this occasion. Doing a Google search, and expecting to find information about an office or a house, he was surprised to find nothing except comments about a pub, its beer and ambience. It has to be the most understated one in the country.

Anyway, according to old large scale Ordnance Survey maps, what is not in any doubt is that the building was once the town's lifeboat house, although it would have been a major effort to launch a boat from it into the sea and then to recover back up Clacton cliff to here.

The building is at the top end of Anglefield by the way.
