Edward Burne-Jones Stained Glass Windows, All Saints Church

All Saints Church on Wilden Lane near Stourport, contains a remarkable collection of fourteen Burne-Jones windows. All of the windows in this church are by the Birmingham born pre-Raphaelite artist. He also designed four large windows for St Philip’s, Birmingham Cathedral. Wilden church was founded by industrialist, Alfred Baldwin, father of Stanley Baldwin who was Prime Minister three times between 1923 and 1937.
Alfred Baldwin was connected by marriage to Edward Burne-Jones. Baldwin’s wife was Louisa MacDonald, who was one of four sisters, all of whom married men of renown in the world of politics, art and literature: Georgiana married Edward Burne-Jones, the pre-Raphaelite painter; Agnes married Edward Poynter, a classical Victorian artist who was also a one-time president of the Royal Academy; and Alice married John Lockwood Kipling and their son Rudyard became famous as author of The Jungle Book, etc.
