St Nicholas Church - Dersingham, Norfolk
St Nicholas Church - Dersingham, Norfolk
This imposing building sits on the eastern edge of the village of Dersingham. It dates from the early 14th century and has a number of features of interest. The tower is of the Perpendicular style (1380 - 1540) and the chancel of the Decorated (1300 - 1380). Inside there are a painted screen, a 14th century font with cover and a carved wooden chest perhaps of similar date. There is also the tomb of John Pell, died 1607 and his wife together with their six sons and three daughters. Since this photo was taken a bypass has been built, leaving the village a somewhat quieter place than it once was. Nearby is a moated site and a tithe barn. Time photo taken not available.
