Hale Park
Hale Park
This park was originally the formal landscaped parkland entrance to the 17th century Hale Hall. The south front of the hall stood for some years after the north front was demolished in the 1930's but was later destroyed by fire, the empty ruin was further neglected and was eventually demolished in 1981.
Hale Park was bought by the local council in the 1970's as a recreation ground for public use. In recent years it has been transformed from a rather neglected open space with few facilities to a pleasant local amenity with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
