Narrowboat at Zouch Lock in Nottinghamshire
This smart narrowboat is emerging from Zouch Lock, No 55, and will rejoin the main River Soar navigation about 150 metres to the right (west).
Zouch Lock (No 55) provides a rise of 6ft 4in (1·9 metres) from the River Soar into the Zouch Cut canal. The lock (like all locks on the navigation towards Leicester) is wide enough to accommodate two full length narrowboats. Link
The Loughborough Navigation (including the River Soar) was bought by the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company in 1932.
