Lightwaves 2018, Spectrum
The Lightwaves 2018 festival was held between 7th and 16th December. As in previous years, the free event featured a range of impressive light displays and playful art installations; some returning and some newly created. Spectrum, by HUB Studio, is an interactive installation that activates visual and sound imagery with the human voice. Users were able to speak messages and a series of concentric circles react to illustrate the process of communication throughout time and space. It was on the Lowry Plaza, outside the outlet mall.

Quays Culture - Lightwaves
Lightwaves claims to be the UK’s largest free outdoor digital art light show. The annual festival, hosted by Quays Culture, showcases an eclectic programme of digital light art, taking over public spaces in Salford Quays and MediaCityUK each December. Each year, Lightwaves features new and exclusively commissioned digital art displays alongside tableaux borrowed from the Blackpool Illuminations.
