Trumpington Street on a sunny December morning. New Court was built in 1823-7 to the designs of William Wilkins. Nikolaus Pevsner was severe: "The front is long and high, stone-faced and with a central gatehouse in the Cambridge tradition. It is wholly symmetrical, and Early Tudor forms do not lend themselves to uniform repetition. The effect is institutional, not collegiate. The front and court are faced with Ketton stone".
