SX0055 : Wheal Martyn - flat rod tunnel

taken 7 years ago, near to Carthew, Cornwall, England

Wheal Martyn - flat rod tunnel
Wheal Martyn - flat rod tunnel
The position is approximate as the map fails to indicate a tunnel on the path from the museum to the viewing point overlooking the clay pit. It was built to carry the flat rod system (an example being seen on the left) that transmitted power from a 35' waterwheel to a pump at Wheal Martyn Pit.
