Described by Historic England as a country house, C.1830; another source LinkExternal link dates it to 1811. From 1904-1926 it was owned by the North Staffordshire Railway as a golf club house, and after that as a youth hostel until the 1960s. It is listed grade 2 (list entry 1037794) but currently unoccupied. The north front includes a porte-cochere.
