Black Country Living Museum - cast iron houses
Black Country Living Museum - cast iron houses
Two semi-detached council houses dating from 1925. Due to shortages of building materials, these were an experimental design comprising 2' square cast iron panels bolted together. However these were more expensive than traditional brick built houses and only one other pair was built. The houses were occupied on their original site until 1987 when they were declared unfit for habitation. They were rebuilt at the Museum in 1991.
