Working boat at Otherton Lock, Staffordshire
Navigating northwards, working narrowboat "Stanton" is emerging from Otherton Lock, No 36 on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. The lock provides a rise (or fall) of 10ft 3in (about 31 metres). Laura (in GUCCC matching colours) has been working the lock today.
This restored historic boat is painted with the original two tone blue Grand Union Canal Carrying Company livery, and was built in 1936 (Large Northwich design). It was fully converted into a leisure cruiser in the 1970s, but has been converted back into the current traditional working boat in 2007.
