A shed-like structure covers part of the building damaged in a ram raid three months previously. Thieves used a stolen digger to extract a cash machine from the wall, but abandoned their attempt to make off with it.
In the late 19th century this building was the Oddfellows Hall LinkExternal link , used also as a place of worship by the Presbyterian Church (Churches of Britain and Ireland LinkExternal link ). In the early 1920s it was converted to a cinema called The Picture House, renamed The Majestic in the 1940s, and closed in the early 1970s (information from Cinema Treasures LinkExternal link ).
