This "Ice cream parlour and cellar tea room", 3 Bailgate, Lincoln, was a sub post-office and shop until 1913, then a bank branch. It is grade II* listed, see LinkExternal link City of Lincoln heritage web page. It has a late 19th century shopfront and a 13th century vaulted cellar. The photographer's great-grandfather William Henry Lilburn was sub-post-master from 1869 to 1913.
