Bunclody, formerly Newtownbarry (until 1950), is a small town on the River Slaney in Wexford. It is located near the foot of Mount Leinster. Most of the town is in County Wexford; a small area at the north end of town is in County Carlow. The town is known for the "'Eileen Aroon' Festival" held during the months of July and August.
The R746 road intersects the N80 road in the middle of Bunclody.
The R746 runs 22km from the R702 at Dorans Cross, Wheelagower, through Bunclody in County Wexford to the R725 at Croneyhorn in County Wicklow.
The N80 is an important link road running between the midlands and south-east of Ireland. It connects several routes radiating from Dublin.
The route starts in County Offaly at Clonminch Roundabout on the N52 Tullamore bypass, south of the town centre, and runs 115km via Port Laoise and Carlow to end on the N11 at Ballynahallin just north of the centre of Enniscorthy, County Wexford.
