SO5174 : Attorney's Walk

Attorney's Walk
Attorney's Walk
Connecting the car park complex around the library with the top of Corve Street. Flat roofs are the burglar's friend, hence the Northern Ireland police station look.

Ludlow has a lot of yards like this behind the fancy houses on the main street. They were once gardens, but were infilled in the early 19th century with low quality housing and workshops and later developed into some very unpleasant slums. The town was not renowned for a progressive outlook, and some of the slums persisted into the 1970s thanks to a refusal of the local authorities to discharge their duty regarding public housing. The new fashionable Ludlow has found a use for several of the yards in providing more retail space.
