Wood Yard
Wood Yard
A yard off Corve Street with some of the old brick buildings that were used to fill up gardens to provide workshops and housing for glove makers around 1800. Many of the yards, and bigger areas outside the town walls developed into notorious slums and some of these persisted into the 1970s. Probably the most interesting school trip that I ever had was a visit to a Ludlow slum just before demolition in about 1971. (Galdeford).
Now some of the yards are home to shops including a very fine record shop here, up the steps, right.
