Saltburn cliff tramway and pier
Saltburn cliff tramway and pier
Saltburn cliff tramway is a funicular railway at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, linking the town with the pier and seafront. The tramway has two cars, which act as counter-balances to each other. They are powered by water, which is pumped to the top where it is piped into one of the tramway cars. It acts as a weight, causing the car to descend while hauling the other car up the slope.
