Plaque on Roseburn Old Bridge
The plaque reads:

On 16 September 1745 the Coltbridge Canter commenced
near here, when the Hanoverian cavalry fled in panic
from the approaching Jacobite army.

From Panel 49 of the Prestonpans Tapestry created in 2010.

The present bridge was constructed in 1766 by Alexander Stevens senior of Prestonhill.
