Path on Carman Hill
This part of the path is within the outer enclosure of the fort, but not the inner enclosure, which is out of shot (to the photographer's right). The path leads west from the most prominent group of boulders on the summit.
Large-scale mapping shows some hut circles near here. It is tempting to identify them with two round green patches that are just to the left of the path (one is just ahead, and the other is behind it); the green patches themselves seem too small, but the hollow, in each case, extends further to the left (south). Large-scale mapping appears to place the hut circles further to the south (left) of the path. However, diagrams of the fort's layout, and, especially, of its hut circles, vary in details, and many of the reported hut circles within the fort are hard to spot, so it is at least possible that my picture does indeed show the site of two of them.
The Firth of Clyde is in the background, with Ardmore Point projecting from the near shore, left of centre.
See NS3779 : Path on Carman Hill for a view in the opposite direction along the same part of the path.

Carman Hill-fort
This large hill-fort — see Link
(at Canmore) — was identified in 1954 from aerial photographs, and is thought to date from the Early Historic period (Dark Ages). See Link for a Geograph article on the fort. See Link
for an annotated satellite view, and Link for other antiquities nearby.
