Path on Carman Hill
The same part of the path is shown, viewed in the opposite direction, in NS3779 : Path on Carman Hill (see that item for more on hut circles that are said to be near here). In the present image, the most prominent group of boulders on the hill can be seen in the middle distance, framed against the Long Crags, which take up the central part of the background.
NS4274 : Dumbuck Quarry is to the right of the Crags, with part of the River Clyde to its right. The nearer body of water is NS3778 : Carman Reservoir.
When the visibility is good, Tinto Hill, and some even more distant hills in the same general direction, can be seen on the skyline between Dumbuck Quarry and the right-hand end of the Long Crags. They do in fact appear in this picture, though too small to see clearly.

Carman Hill-fort
This large hill-fort — see Link
(at Canmore) — was identified in 1954 from aerial photographs, and is thought to date from the Early Historic period (Dark Ages). See Link for a Geograph article on the fort. See Link
for an annotated satellite view, and Link for other antiquities nearby.
