Flats in St Mary's Square and Charles II statue
Flats in St Mary's Square. The rather incongruous statue in the background is of Charles II. Dating from 1662 and originally situated in Southgate Street at the northern end of the Wheat Market, it was lost when the Wheat Market was demolished in the late 18th Century. However it was rediscovered in 1945 in a garden in Westbury-on-Seven, a few miles to the southwest of Gloucester, and moved to its current position in 1960.
