Lord Kelvin's Sundial
Lord Kelvin's Sundial
This combination of globe and sundial stands in front of the southern facade of Glasgow University's Gilmorehill Campus. It has lost some of its original five gnomons; the one on top remains, while the others were on the slate disks on the sides. The name is traditional, and reflects the belief that the sundial was perhaps made either by Lord Kelvin or by his father; see its listing text for a more detailed description: LinkExternal link
