Pugin's spire, Nottingham Cathedral
Built 1841-44 as a major statement of the Roman Catholic Church's revival in the first half of the 19th century, becoming a cathedral in 1851. The spire is in Early English style and is more ornate than the remainder of the building. Listed Grade II*.
