The exit onto the River Severn at the northern end of the Gloucester Docks. Currently undergoing repairs – the cill of the bottom gates has deteriorated to a point where the gates do not fit adequately and the rate of leakage has rendered the lock unusable. See Link .
The lock itself dates from 1799 but was remodelled in its present form in 1892. Listed Grade II.
SO8218 : Gloucester docks dry dock Gloucester dry docks. Interesting tug that looks to have a wooden hull. Does anybody know more. The adjoining pumphouse contains a large centrifugal pump that usec to be steam driven.
