Edgbaston Road Vicinity, Birmingham 5
A footbridge linking - on the left - "The Boulevard" and a public car park near Edgbaston Road (a.k.a. the B4217) with Cannon Hill Park. The Midland Art Centre (a.k.a. "The MAC") is situated behind the railings on the right, i.e. on the northern boundary of the park. This River Rea (pronounced "ray"), upon which Birmingham was founded in the C7th by the Beorma tribe, rises in Waseley Hills Country Park, south-west of Birmingham, close to Junction 4 of the M5 Motorway and then finally merges with the River Tame near Gravelly Hill Interchange, with its waters eventually heading out into the North Sea via the River Trent, 14 miles (23 kms) from its source.
