Luzley
Luzley
I am grateful to Chris Beardmore, whose relations lived at NY6651 : Knar - or The Knarr (local spelling) - from 1944, for the following information: this small building (shown as being entirely in NY6651 on the 1:25000 map OL43) is the re-roofed remains of the cow byre and barn. There used to be another floor, and a conventional roof. Luzley house was next to this building, on the northeast side, and is now derelict. Chris has records from the census that the building was occupied in 1841, 1851, 1861 & 1871. Some of the previous inhabitants of Luzley are buried in Knarsdale church yard.
