taken 5 years ago, near to New Silksworth, Sunderland, England

Easter cross on Tunstall Hills, Sunderland
Easter cross on Tunstall Hills, Sunderland
Since 1966, a cross has been raised on Tunstall Hills every year on Good Friday. It is taken down again by Easter Monday.

The site of the cross has good views over Sunderland, which also means that the cross is prominent on the skyline.

This view looks north-eastwards, over the city centre. The North Sea is visible too.
