Situated between the pond and Palm House is the glass sculpted artwork 'Summer Sun' by Dale Chihuly. This is part of the exhibition 'Chihuly: Reflections on Nature' which is on display in Kew Gardens. Artwork by Chihuly has previously been displayed at Kew Gardens during 2005.

The Gardens were established in 1759. The gardens are responsible for the world's largest collection of living plants. The site houses four Grade I and thirty six Grade II listed buildings. The gardens were designated UNESCO World Heritage status in 2003.
