The Fire Station was in operation here from 1933 until 2013. Now it is the Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum LinkExternal link Standing outside is PDK 717, a Dennis Fire Engine with a 125ft Metz turntable ladder, one of the tallest post-war British turntable ladders. It was delivered new to Rochdale County Borough Fire Brigade in 1957 and operated in the area until withdrawn from operational service in 1976.
