Looking from just inside the main gate of the outer castle wall, the mighty wall separating the mediaeval part of the castle from the more recent barracks with its gate house Link can be seen. The big structure towards the right is the keep Link . In front of the gatehouse is a ditch, with the halfmoon battery Link protruding into it below ground level.
