Chee Dale: emerging from Chee Tor Tunnel
Chee Dale: emerging from Chee Tor Tunnel
The Monsal Trail runs from Bakewell to Blackwell (near Buxton) and follows the track of the old railway which closed in 1966. It opened in 1981 but it is only since 2011, when the lighting was installed, that the main tunnels have also formed part of the route.

Here, we emerge from Chee Tor Tunnel and just ahead of us is a much shorter tunnel, Chee Tor No2. Between us and it, we cross a viaduct high above the River Wye.
