Source of the South Tyne
In addition to the long-standing sculpture denoting the source of the South Tyne, it appears that the stone beyond is a recent addition commemorating the creation of the "Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care Walk". The inscription on the plaque on the stone goes on to state:
"The River Tyne Walk is 135 miles long, from the source of the South Tyne at Garrigill and the North Tyne at Kielder and then to the sea at the piers of Tynemouth and South Shields. This walk is dedicated to all those people affected by cancer"
