Carlisle station
Carlisle station
Originally known as Carlisle Citadel station for its proximity to the citadel Link and to distinguish it from the earlier London Road and Crown Street stations which closed a few years after Citadel station opened in 1847. The station acts as a connecting point between the English and Scottish railway networks, with through platforms on the West Coast Mainline as well as bay platforms for various lines coming in from the south and from Scotland.
