The footpath attached to the northern side of the bridge Link begins at the eastern end of the eastbound platform at Wetheral station Link . The sign by the railway track gives the bridge number and Engineer's Line Reference (NEC2): The bridge across the River Eden is bridge number 157 on section 2 of the Newcastle and Carlisle Line (a.k.a. Tyne Valley line). Section 2 runs from Blaydon Junction just outside Newcastle to Carlisle South Junction on the West Coast Main Line.
