The Islay LIMPET
The Islay LIMPET (Land Installed Marine Power Energy Transmitter) started with a 75 kW prototype in 1991, progressing to a 500 kW unit in 2000. The plant has been decommissioned and all installations except the concrete shell have been removed. Based on this design, a 16 turbine plant was built in the Bay of Biscay in Spain in 2011. Sadly, the system has not been developed in Scotland.
