St Michael's Haworth - inner door
St Michael's Haworth - inner door
The modern inner door - fully glazed with an etched cross design - is intended to help people feel welcome as they enter the building, as well as letting more light in when the outer door is left open.
Church of St Michael and All Angels, Haworth
The parish church of this small town in the Worth Valley became famous, first for the remarkable religious revival under William Grimshaw (Vicar 1742-1763), and then for the literary genius of the daughters of a later incumbent, Patrick Bronte. All but one of the Bronte family are buried in the church. The tower is 16th-18th century, the rest of the church was rebuilt in 1879 (after Bronte's time) and is listed grade II* (list entry 1283403).
