Hadrian's Wall near Broomlee Lough
Hadrian's Wall near Broomlee Lough
Hardly an unsurmountable barrier these days, Hadrian's Wall was originally more substantial. It was built as two stone walls about 2m apart, which were backfilled with rubble. The Hadrian's Wall long distance path runs along the wall, through the gate on the right. Broomlee Lough can be seen on the northern side of the Wall, left in the photo.
