'The Muckle Brig' - Galston Bridge
'The Muckle Brig' was built in 1839 and opened with great ceremony and commotion, when Captain Patrick, factor at Loudoun, interrupted a fiery radical speech by Hugh Brown, master at Barr School and author of the poem "The Covenanters."

In 1921 all three Valley towns and neighbouring farmland were victims to the River Irvine in spate. The Muckle Brig sustained serious damage to its central and southern arches; it was rebuilt the same year.
