SJ4875 : Helsby Junction signal box
taken 5 years ago, near to Helsby, Cheshire West And Chester, England
Helsby Junction signal box
The station occupies the junction between the Wirral and Chester lines, and is still signalled with semaphore signals. The signal box was built by the London and North Western Railway c.1900 and is now grade II listed (list entry 1412057) as "a good example of the typical form of the LNWR Type 4 signal box and for the retention of the original lever frame". A steel cage prevents rail enthusiasts getting in to 'have a go'.
